What is a Twitter Twenius?

Did you know that celebrities, government officials and well known people from

@MarthaStewart to @AndyDick to @GreggOpieHughes to @SebastianBach and beyond, are racing to position themselves as part of the Twitter phenomena.

But Twitter is far more incredible than that. In fact, Twitter is a local based social tool too. It's likely your town municipal government is on Twitter, your local TV news, your local Fire Department, your favorite bookstore, your community college, even the guy that bagged your groceries last week. If they are not on Twitter today, it's just a matter of time.

But there's another force moving rapidly to Twitter. It's a tidal shift of a more serious nature where businesses and entrepreneurs are beginning to tap the grand potential of Twitter. When you see well-known companies like: @HRBlock, @intuit or @knitrider piling on to the Twitter bandwagon, it's unmistakably time to pay close attention.

It is likely that this "business phenomena" boils down to the undeniable fact that a lot of business actually occurs in social gatherings, at cocktail parties, on the golf course, or at various other social events. Now, through Twitter it's become possible, if not down right easy, to benefit from the internet version of a non-stop 24 hour, 7 day a week cocktail party of unending proportions.

The statistics and stories are incredible:

  • How powerful is a reTweet? "Social network users are 3 times more likely to trust the opinions of peers over advertising when making purchase decisions." ~JupiterResearch
  • "Unique Visitors to Twitter are dominated by 2,935,000 in the 35-49 age range (41.7%)"
  • "By a long shot, Twitter, blogs, LinkedIn and Facebook were the top four social media tools used by marketers, with Twitter leading the pack."

What's the meaning of all this? It means that if you are an entrepreneur or own a business, you must go directly to Twitter, do not pass go, do not collect $200, and set up your own Twitter account.

Can it possibly be that easy?

Well, not exactly. Once you have your account opened, that's when the simplicity goes out the window. It's a very very basic concept, but like playing chess, unless you have a clear strategy, you're going to soon be scratching your head.

Thankfully, there's help. Internet strategist and social media marketing expert, Dan Hollings has spent over 12 months researching and testing Twitter strategies for business. Along the way, Dan wrote 100 of the most popular Twitter tips found anywhere online. Next he created a browser toolbar for Mac or PC that puts over 235 Twitter tools, tips and apps easily within reach. Recently, he released his remarkable Twitter training program called, "Twitter Twenius" (that's Twitter-talk for genius).

Here is a sample Twitter tip, to wet your whistle:
One secret is NOT to think Twitter drives revenue as a stand-alone vehicle. Instead, think of Twitter as one more wheel or perhaps the driveshaft on your internet dune buggy. Once it's up and running, you'll likely find yourself compelled to put your Twitter pedal to the metal.

Of course there's a lot more to learn, however if you're looking for how to make money with Twitter or a way to turn-on the Twitter afterburners on all your promotional campaigns from local to international, I recommend Twitter Twenius.
